Understanding yourself helps increasing self-esteem. It helps you understand your strength and limitation, so you are able to improve yourself and expand your area of expertise. You should take time each day to think about yourself; how you have been doing, and what you should have done for the next time.
The Johari Window divided self-perception into four categories:
1. Open: I know myself and others know me. For instance, I know myself that I like to help others, and others know that I like to help others.
2. Blind: I do not know about myself, but others know me. For example, others know that I like to help others, but I do not know that.
3. Hidden: I know myself, but others do not know me. For instance, I am able to sing, but I never do so in front of others, so others have no clue that I can sing.
4. Unknown: Both me and others do not know about me; such as the skill that both me and others do not know that I can do it.
